August 2014 events to enjoy

W. Atlee Burpee & Co. will host an one day only Burpee Garden Open on August 16, 2014. Their August in the Garden will take place at Burpee's Historic Fordhook Farm, 105 New Britain Road, Doylestown, Pa., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Burpee experts will be on site.   Admission is free.


19th Annual Austin Fall Home and Garden Show
August 15 – 17, 2014
Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St., Autin, Texas
Show Hours: Friday August 15 – 2 p.m. To 7 p.m.
Saturday August 16 – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday August 17 – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This home and garden show offers a look and listen from landscaping to treehouses, gardening to home improvements and from outdoor living to pets, for Full Schedules, click here. Admission is $8.50 for Adults 17 and older, free for those under 16, $6.50 for seniors and retired military w/ID.

August 16 – 17, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Midwest Bonsai Society presents their annual look into Bonsai with a display of 200 bonsai trees judged by Guest Master Bjorn Bjorholm. Shop more than a dozen vendors for bonsai trees and supplies. Free demonstrations and lectures will be available. Also, workshops will be held throughout the weekend for bonsai enthusiasts of all skill levels. 


The Hardy Plant Society/Mid-Atlantic Group will hold their Fall Gardeners' Market, August 23, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Freedom Foundation, 1601 Valley Forge Rd., Valley Forge, PA.
Selection of plants being offered for your garden include perennials, ferns, sun or shade garden plants and wildflowers, rare trees, conifers, and shrubs, natives, and specialty plants.
There will also be non-nursery vendors selling garden art and special accessories.

Saturday, August 16, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Explore the native plant garden and nearby meadow & arboretum at Pruyn Sanctuary and join in spotting the butterflies, dragonflies and hummingbirds found in the Pruyn Sancturies.
