If you want a garden that you do not have to plant every year then you want a perennial garden.  Perennial plants come back to bloom year after year without the need to replant them and with proper care most will keep repeating this cycle for years.

To keep your flower garden full of color all year, plant perennials that bloom at different times during the year.  Perennials can be planted at almost any time of year.  In cold regions planting very early in the fall is necessary to make sure plants take root before winter.

Perennial plants come in a wide variety of colors, heights, spread and textures.  Many come in early, mid and late blooming varieties that can increase your blooming time.
